Classical Conversations And The Classical Conversation

Maria and I have known one another since I was nine, and she was eleven. We met each other in our homeschool classes in a group called Classical Conversations. The Classical Conversations curriculum is very big on presentations; so every other week we had to present something to our class. I can remember that she would not have the confidence to finish her presentations, and she would start to cry in the middle of them; then her mom would have to come and soothe her. I was not sure if being around other people made her nervous or she was in need of a security blanket but she always showed her sensitivity to others which bewildered me. At first, I thought it was just something that she would have to grow of quickly, but she really didn t start changing until way later in her life. Throughout high school, there were times when she would feel as though her friends did not want to be around her. I remember one incident when I was hanging out with her sister, and our friend Cameron outsid e (We were in middle school and she was in highschool) and we came back in the house, and she was crying profusely into her mother shirt as though she had been hurt. We had asked what happened, and it was revealed that she thought we did not want to hang out with her. We were never mean to her, we just did not think it was necessary to verbally give her a formal invitation to come and socialize with us, especially because she was two years older than we were.
